As early as 1852, German settlers in the Austin area had formed a singing group. On February 8, 1879, they officially organized as a singing society bearing the name "Saengerrunde". It is the oldest ethnic organization in Austin. Saengerrundes structure is made up of the Maennerchor (Mens Choir), with the following auxiliaries: the Damenchor (Ladies Choir), Saengerrunde Bowlers,  and the Damen Kegel Verein (Ladies Bowling Association) Saengerrunde Halle: 1607 San Jacinto, Austin, Texas, 78701, (512) 666-SING, Directions Rehearsal: Mondays at 7:00 p.m. Meetings: Usually the first Monday of the month, 7:00 p.m., check the calendar for details.
